The Clayton Rotary Club was excited and honored to pay a surprise visit to the brand-new Hudson’s Hardware & Outdoor Equipment – Clayton/Selma on Monday, March 2, 2026, the very day they opened their doors in Selma. It was a moment filled with pride, celebration, and remembrance.

This visit held special meaning for our Club, as Store Manager Travis Hardy is a valued Rotarian and member of our Club. We wanted to surprise Travis and the entire Hudson’s team by sharing our support and wishing them well as they begin this new chapter together. To mark the occasion, we brought a cake and presented a framed photo of Leigh Hudson with his Hudson’s team, taken at the Town of Clayton, NC Government flagpole dedication held in his honor in November, 2024. Club member Richard Fitzgerald offered a heartfelt invocation, grounding the moment in gratitude and reflection.

This third Hudson’s Hardware location was Leigh’s dream. While our hearts wish he could have been here to see the doors open and the store filled with life, we know his vision, hard work, and generous spirit are woven into every corner of this place and carried forward by those who serve the community each day.

Congratulations to Hudson’s Hardware on this beautiful beginning. With Leigh’s grandsons, Jeff Gulley and Past President of Garner Rotary Club, Stone Gulley continuing his legacy, and Travis leading the Selma store, we know this dream will live on through many years of service, growth, and much success.
