Flags For Heroes

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does my hero have to be Military or a Veteran?

While many do honor our Military and Veterans, it is not a requirement. Your hero is a personal choice. This is the hero you are honoring, so it is up to you.

  • Does my hero have to be human?

No. Each year, we have people sponsor flags for military working dogs, police K-9s, and service dogs. Your hero is your choice.

  • Does my hero have to be living?

No, many of our sponsors honor someone who has passed. Your hero is your choice.

  • Do I need a company to be a Corporate Sponsor?

No, an individual, couple, or family can be a Silver, Gold, or Platinum sponsor. You do not need to be affiliated with a company/corporation.

  • When the flags get raised, can I pick where my flag goes in the field?

No. You cannot choose which flag will have your hero’s medallion. The flags are installed in a specific order, and we keep track of their locations.

  • How will I find the flag(s) I sponsored once they are in the field?

Once the medallions get attached, a printed list will be available at the Leigh Hudson Field of Honor to tell you where your hero’s flag is located. You can also find the location on our Field Guide available here on our website. Under the Flags For Heroes dropdown, select “2026 Field Guide.” It is searchable, and you can search by Hero Name or Sponsor Name. There will also be a Clayton Rotary Club volunteer at the field from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Saturday, through June 13, 2026, to assist you (weather permitting).

  • When do I get the medallion(s) for the flag(s) I sponsored?

When sponsoring your flag, you can choose to have us mail your medallion(s) for a small fee or pick up your medallion(s) at the closing ceremony after we lower the flags. If you chose to have us mail the medallion, it will be sent out within a week of the June 20, 2026 flag lowering. If you are picking up your medallion, it will be available on Saturday, June 20, 2026 between 9:00 am and 11:00 am at the Leigh Hudson Field of Honor. We will designate an alternate medallion pickup location after the 20th for those who could not make it.
