Josh Davis, a former member of the Clayton Rotary Club, proposed the idea for a park sponsored by our Club. Josh owned land on Main Street in Clayton and proposed to the Board that we start a park there, which he would lease to the Club for $1.00 a year. A plan was approved, and we held a wonderful groundbreaking party on October 5, 2019.
We ran into obstacles with the Town of Clayton in executing the plan as designed. Until we could resolve them, we used the land to grow vegetables and donated them to a local food pantry to help address food insecurity in our community. Sadly, we could never resolve the issues and couldn’t realize our plans for the park. Josh sold the property in 2023.
