The newly renamed Joyce Blackley Christmas Spirit Award (formerly the Christmas Spirit Award) was presented to Clayton Rotary Club members Cathy and Chris Delano by Mayor Jody McLeod at the Christmas Tree Lighting on December 4, 2025, and it couldn’t be more fitting or deserved.
.
Joyce and Ernest Blackley were proud members of the Clayton Rotary Club, and that Joyce’s name lives on through this award is especially meaningful to our Rotary family. Cathy and Chris truly embody the spirit of giving and service, and we can think of no better recipients for an award that honors community, generosity, and Christmas spirit.
.
Even more special—this recognition was presented at the Christmas Tree Lighting, first held by Joyce and Ernest Blackley in downtown Clayton in 1990. What a beautiful full-circle moment.
.
Congratulations, Cathy and Chris, and thank you for all you do for our community!
