Today, January 19, 2026, our community came together for the 19th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Meal Packing Program, helping provide hope and nourishment to those facing food insecurity in our communities.
.
Our event was held at the Clayton High School gym, led by project lead Clayton Rotary Club Immediate Past President Randy Berry. It was an incredible example of what service and collaboration can achieve. With over 200 volunteers, our site packaged nearly 60,000 meals in record time! This is Service Above Self in Action!
.
We are grateful to the many groups and individuals who made this possible, including volunteers from: Clayton Rotary Club, Central Johnston County Rotary Club, Cleveland School Rotary Club, Clayton High School, Clayton High School Interact Club, Corinth Holders Interact Club, and many others.
.
Volunteers jumped in wherever needed — from set-up and volunteer check-in to meal packing and clean-up — all with smiles and servant hearts.
.
A big thank you as well to DJ Mike B Services LLC for keeping the energy high with music throughout the event again this year.
.
This effort was part of a Rotary District 7710 collaboration across four locations — Durham, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and Clayton. This was a special day as we had 19 Rotary Clubs participating on January 19th, on our 19th year of this impactful project. Together, across all sites, we packed an incredible 182,500 meals with more than 800 volunteers participating.
.
Special appreciation goes to Randy Berry, along with his wife Paige Berry and daughters Jackie Berry and Ariane Berry, who put in countless hours both ahead of the event and on the day itself to ensure its success year after year.
.
Thank you to every volunteer who showed up to honor Dr. King’s legacy through action. This is what it looks like when a community lives out Service Above Self.

“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.
